LSC Eviction Tracker

The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) Eviction Tracker provides access to multi-year trend data on eviction filings for 1,283 counties and municipalities in 31 states and territories across the United States.

In 2020, LSC launched a congressionally-directed Eviction Study to investigate the unmet legal needs associated with the eviction crisis in the United States. This study focuses on evictions as a legal process and explores the variability of eviction laws at the state, local, and territorial levels, with the goal of empowering civil legal aid providers with the information required to better serve their clients and providing policy makers and researchers better insight into the eviction crisis. For additional information, please visit the Eviction Study webpage.

Eviction filings dropped significantly in the early months during COVID-19 before slowly increasingly throughout the summer of 2020. Filings decreased again during the first half of the CDC moratorium before rebounding in the summer of 2021. Eviction filings have continued to rise steadily since the CDC moratorium expired in August 2021.
